The Fruity Candle Friday Edit

Why hello!

Hope you're all enjoying your Friday! I thought I would do a post on candles today but not just any candles - my favourite type of candles: fruity scented ones. They're just so refreshing and smell so yummy!

From this post you may sense that I have a particular liking towards watermelon and you are correct. Watermelons are the best fruit and no one can tell me otherwise. It also helps that watermelon scented candles are the best. Not biased at all.

Shearer Candles - Watermelon

Shearer Candles Watermelon - I thought I would start off with this one as it is my favourite of the bunch. This honestly smells unreal. I am guilty of opening the lid multiple time during the day just to have a whiff of this glorious scent. The scent is actually rather commanding - when opening the lid of the tin the scent immediately wraps around you and this is without it being lit! It's a light but present sweet fruity scent that just makes you happy (and possibly hungry). What's even better is that this doesn't cost much at all!

Pomegranate & Pineapple Candle (Available in Clintons)

Pomegranate & Pineapple Jar Candle (Clintons) - so I picked this up when it became half price from £12 to £6 (Still is!). This smells like a dreamy exotic tropical cocktail. The scent is surprisingly strong and fills the room within minutes. It's a sweet and uplifting scent and will make you think you're sitting in a warm sandy beach holding a Pina Colada. Yes pleeeassee! The jar is the perfect size and will give me a good value of money. Definitely recommend you give this one a smell next time you're in Clintons!

Yankee Candle - Waikiki Melon

Lastly, the Yankee Waikiki Melon Candle. This is a small little jar but don't think it doesn't pack a fruity punch. This was the closest I could get for a watermelon scented Yankee candle but no complaints here. Fruity and fresh - just how I like my candles. The jar is on the small side but with a Yankee candle the scent quickly travels. It's not as sugary sweet as the Shearer Watermelon candle and isn't as strong scented but still lovely!

Thanks for reading! What are your favourite candles?

Today's Makeup

Why hello!

If like me, you stayed up for most of last night keeping an eye on the General Election results and have thus woken up with a fuzzy head and a lovely tinge of bluey purple underneath your eyes, you may want to read on. Today I am going out for a spot of lunch and meeting a few friends so I need to remove all evidence of my night owl double life.

This is what I'm wearing on my face today! I went for a wide awake/dewy outer appearance  to try counteract how sleepy I feel on the inside.

Shower Essentials

Why Hello!

Okay I may be going out on a limb here by saying that we all take showers, right?  I joke. They're pretty much part of our everyday life. Some are shower people and some people swear by their baths. I, for one, admit I'm more of a shower person for sure. I love my baths don't get me wrong but showers are just easier and quicker.  Baths also confuse me slightly - do you wash your hair at the beginning of your time in the bath or at the end? Do you need to use a shower cap if you wash your hair at the start? Do you use the shower head? So many questions for my little small brain to handle.

Okay, so now that spiel is over let's get onto the good stuff. This post is all about my current 'Shower Essentials' - terrible idea of a post title I know. Hint: I may be slightly hungover. So, let's take a look at what have become daily essentials in my shower!

Wednesday's Wishlist #1

Why hello!

It's Wednesday already! The bank holiday Monday sure has thrown me off - I keep thinking it's Tuesday. Today I thought I would start a series called 'Wednesday's Wishlist'. It's quite self-explanatory: every Wednesday I'll post a list of things (mostly beauty/fashion related) that I want to get my hands on.

Topshop Glow Highlighter in Polished - REVIEW.

Topshop Highlighter in Polished

Why hello!

Yesterday the sun was shining and today?
50 shades of grey clouds and lots of rain. Hurrah!

This happens every time Scotland - we get a glimpse of the big shiny thing in the sky that other countries call the 'Sun' and then in a blink it's back to our grey drizzly normality. Anyhoo, with this typical Scottish weather I can't help but daydream about summer. And what better reason to write up a little review on a highlighter!

Said highlighter is rather a recent discovery - the Topshop Glow Highlighter in Polished. Now, Topshop aren't really known for their makeup products but instead their trendy range of clothes but one day I decided to have a wee browse of their makeup stand and wow! The variety of products and shades were impressive. After a lot of hmm-ing and ahh-ing I decided I couldn't step out the shop without this highlighter.

Firstly, packaging-wise it's simple and cute and who doesn't like a glass jar? The actual product however is the stand out (as it should be). Untwisting the lid reveals a creamy jar of goodness. There were 2 colours available on the stand, the other one being a more goldy bronze colour but seeing as I am pale as a ghost I thought it would be best to go for Polished. While it's definitely more on the pearly side of the spectrum and therefore perfect for everday/night it also contains golden undertones that create a slightly warm shimmer. Just means I can wear this in summer as well!

Blended - gives off a natural glow

I use this on my cheekbones and it blends pretty seamlessly and looks like a very natural glow so don't worry to those who fear it will be too harsh! I also like to blob a bit on my cupid's bow to create a bit more dimension to my face. For £8 it's quite dear for a shopping brands range but worth every penny in my opinion! Topshop usually have testers so take advantage of them and try it out! Excited to try more products from Topshop...they just keep winning don't they?

What are your favourite Topshop makeup products?

I am alive!

Wow summer truly has flown by! Now while I love Summer I have to admit Autumn is my favourite month ever. I love the slight crisp in the air and the excuse to start layering up my clothes and wearing my favourite tartan scarf! Since I've started my second year of Uni (cries) I decided I would start up my blog again and hopefully this time - stick to it! I enjoy ranting and raving about anything beauty/fashion related so let's see how this goes!

Unfortunately my skin has taken a turn for the worst - I have an acne breakout on my chin and jawline and after researching online I'm pretty certain it's hormonal.  And here I was hoping to be spot free for my birthday! I'm going all out, however, to find the miracle product(s) to save my skin from this unsightly travesty so keep an eye out for that!

Just a reminder - this blog will cover a range of topics such as

  • my current favourite beauty products
  • monthly favourites
  • honest reviews
  • OOTD
  • UNI Fashion
  • Life ramblings
  • Health and Lifestyle
and probably many more!

So while I would go ahead and start preparing for my new post I have to get ready for work which is in a couple of hours so I bid you farewell for now!
